E-Learning for Clinical Teachers
Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare and Biomedical Education
This is a One Year Part Time Postgraduate Certificate offered by the Department of Medical and Healthcare Education at St George's, University of London.
Who is the course aimed at?
Members of staff involved in teaching and supporting the learning of St George’s students. As part of SGUL's commitment to high standards of teaching, all newly appointed academic staff are now required to undertake the Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare and Biomedical Education (PgCert HBE) within their probation period (unless they hold a comparable qualification or have experience equivalent to the programme’s outcomes).
Learning Outcomes and Content
- Equip participants with knowledge, skills and attitudes required to enable them to become effective teachers in medical and healthcare and biomedical education
- Promote reflective practice, scholarship and professional development in teaching
The PgCert HBE course comprises 4 modules
- Large group teaching; learning resources
- Small group teaching, facilitation and supervision
- Assessment of learning; curriculum planning
- Personal and professional development portfolio
Each of the modules can be taken separately for CPD purposes. Please contact the course administrator for details
Admission
Admissions are made to the course in September, January and May of each year.
Entry requirements
A first degree in a subject relevant to medical or healthcare education and normally a minimum of 2 years experience in a health related environment
Course fee
£2,000 (75% of the course fee will be funded if participants are actively involved in teaching SGUL students)
