Job opportunities in clinical education

The Institute of Education, Faculty of Policy and Society - University of London, is currently advertising two part-time opportunities in clinical education. Further details are given below, the closing date for applications is 17 September 2010 and all enquiries should be made directly to the IOE.
Professor of Clinical Education (0.5fte)
The appointment will be 0.5 of full-time. An immediate start is preferred but allowance will be made for a candidate of outstanding calibre. Salary will be pro-rata on the Institute’s senior salary scale at a level commensurate with the academic standing of the appointee, plus pro-rata of £2,323 London Allowance per annum. You will provide strategic development of clinical education teaching, research and consultancy including, building on the existing strengths of clinical education engaging with the various clinical education communities nationally and internationally, leading the development of a Clinical Education Research Centre, building on the existing Researching Medical Learning and Practice (RMLP) Network, seeking out, engaging in, and leading funded research programmes and leading the development of clinical education teaching and learning. You will have an appropriate clinical education qualification, a distinguished national and international reputation for leadership, scholarship, research and teaching in clinical education, including a record of relevant publications and proven experience of management of funded research projects. Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Clinical Education (0.5fte)
The appointment will be 0.5 of full-time and is available from 1 October 2010. Salary, dependent on qualifications and experience, will be on the Grade 8 or 9 salary scale, pro-rata in the range £36,716 to £43,842 or £45,156 to £52,348 per annum respectively, plus pro-rata of £2,323 London Allowance per annum. You will contribute to programme/module leadership, development, teaching, assessment and all other associated responsibilities on the Clinical Education MAs and to the advancement of scholarship in the field of clinical education through publications and other research activity through support for the development of a research centre for clinical education. You will have a higher degree, preferably a doctorate, in clinical, medical or higher and professional education and the ability to teach successfully at higher education level (relevant experience of educating health professionals and a good knowledge of a wide range of learning and teaching approaches suited to the learning needs of postgraduate students would normally be required for appointment at Senior Lecturer level) and evidence of scholarship in the field, including a record of relevant publications.
