Course Managing trainees in difficulty (half-day)

Description In order to meet the increasing demand for our courses, London Deanery - Faculty Development Unit is working with the Academic Centre for Medical Education at UCL to provide this half-day workshop. The workshop is a brief introduction to effective management of trainees in difficulty. Aims and Objectives • To identify the common situations that lead to trainees getting into difficulty • To explore issues central to the effective management of trainees in difficulty • To begin to explore the challenges of difficult conversations with trainees • To detail available remediation resources Teaching Methodology • Facilitated small group workshops and breakout groups • Focussed, short plenary sessions • Scenarios and case-based discussions Outline programme • Exploring and defining the challenges – an introduction • The current landscape – exploration of resources, legal frameworks and responsibilities • Moving towards effective management – developing a practical toolkit • Case-based scenarios – the diagnostic and management frameworks in practice
